Auto: Genesis tops Porsche in JD Power Appeal Survey

Genesis finished at the top spot in J.D. Power’s annual appeal study among all brands. Porsche finished in second place, with BMW, Lincoln and Mercedes next on the list.
This is the first time for Genesis to score the top position in J.D. Power’s 2018 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout study, which measures the vehicle owners’ emotional attachment and excitement with the vehicle across 77 different areas, scored on a 1000-point scale.
Compared to last year’s results, Genesis’ score jumped by 15 points, to a total of 884. The now standalone Korean brand also topped this year’s J.D. Power’s quality study.

Porsche scored one point less than last year, for a total of 883, while BMW saw its performance rising by eight points, to 863. Lincoln also scored significant gains this year with 861 points, helped by the Navigator which received the highest score – 915 – of any model in the survey.
The bottom of the list features Mitsubishi, Mazda, Jeep, Subaru, Nissan and Hyundai. Despite finishing dead last, Mitsubishi was the most improved brand in this year’s survey, improving its score by 33 points.  Jaguar posted the biggest decline, losing 11 points since last year, but its 827 points place it in the 12th position of the list from the top.
