Auto: Marking the "Bentley Century" With A New Special

Bentley Mulsanne Hallmark
Bentley has been making some of the world’s most luxurious cars for 100 years, and they’ll be celebrating that achievement with the Mulsanne W.O. Edition by Mulliner.
W.O. Bentley served an apprenticeship with Great Norther Railway before designing engines for fighter planes during the First World War. During those years, Bentley set a goal “to build a fast car, a good car, the best in its class.” With his experience, he went on to set up Bentley Motors. In the ensuing decade, he created several cars, many of which broke numerous speed records. The Mulsanne W.O. Edition by Mulliner was inspired by Bentley’s own car—the Bentley 8 Litre. The 8 Litre was Bentley’s final creation, and is viewed as his best.
The Mulsanne W.O. Edition will be limited to only 100 cars—not because they company wishes to drive up the price, but because each of the cars will literally have a piece of W.O. Bentley’s own 8 Litre. When Bentley’s car needed to have the crankshaft replaced, Mulliner engineers carefully cut the old crankshaft into 100 pieces. Those pieces will be displayed in the W.O. Edition.
One of the oldest coachbuilding companies in the world, Mulliner lends their exceptional craftsmanship to Bentley’s projects, creating unique and exquisite bespoke commissions. Mulsanne also has a reputation for quality, and while the W.O. Edition may be inspired by a car from the 1920s, it has all the amenities of a car from the 21st century.
