Poetry: HALF

Half
a man
half-leaning on a cane
sat down by the plaza
steps
cut down by
stepped-down
cocaine
bones on show
Proteins
on the
brain
the weight
now a memory of
his former
life lived at the
speed of
desire
every wish seemingly on tap
No means nor
desire
of avoiding the
social trap
The former fitted shirt
now flaps about
in the afternoon
breeze
and shame
strives to pull his
posture
downward
but withthe
help
of dwindling family
and friends he stoutly
defends
the remains
of his
honour
