The Switch: Jenny Wants A Baby.....

.....and whatever Jenny (Aniston, that is) wants, Jenny gets.
But not quite in the way she was expecting (pardon the pun). This agreeable romantic comedy starts out somewhat as an alternative to namesake Jennifer Lopez' The Back-Up Plan, but with better lines and a hipper soundtrack.

Those virtues aside, what makes it tolerable really is the presence of Jason Bateman as Wally, the male lead who inadvertently(?) switches sperm donations in a night of drunken confusion.

Six whole years pass after that mix-up in which Wally has remained mum about his "mistake" except to his boss (played by Jeff Goldblum, another welcome presence). The movie then stretches its premise a bit laboriously, but still manages to keep its cache.

Oh yeah, there are some great shots of New York City and a too-brief but funny opening scene featuring a homeless man describing people (women, mostly) as they pass him by....... and there's Juliette Lewis. OK, so switch has a few things going for it. Just don't get overly excited.
