World's Out the Window: Tangled Trailer Official

So, you know the story well enough. Young maiden is locked in a tower because her evil usurper of a mother decides she wants the power in her magic hair (all 70 feet of it) to herself; handsome rogue happens along and   frees her from the tower and bondage using said hair and they embark on an eventful adventure in the ensuing struggle to establish claims on said maiden with said hair.

That said, this 50th animated feature from Disney is much more than an adaptation of the Rapunzel fable. Even with the intrusion (Necessary?0 of technology, this is practically a throwback; its a statement from the Mouse Kingdom that "hey we can still make 'em the way we used to - or at least close!" The characterizations, the dialogue, the "thrill-a-minute with romance thrown in" plot. All add up to a delightful reversion to the heyday of Disney, a spirit that only occasionally popped up in Disney features of recent vintage - often buried under excess sentimentality or otherwise just not visually compelling.

Tangled is free from those drawbacks and works as pure entertainment. Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi give great voice and the addition of two non-speaking (yet not silent) characters - a gecko and a war horse - make for comic genius.

Hype? Not really, when a film I was expecting to totally be put to sleep by turns out just short of brilliant, even the songs sound pretty decent (better than the previous musical outing, The Princess and the Frog).

Tangled, in short, is a cartoon feature that both adults and kids can fall for, whether separately or together.
