Business: Boon Hall -the "brunch n' blooms" place

Boon Hall is, in many ways, typical of Jamaica. Always offering more than meets the eye to those willing to take a little extra time.

Getting to this lovely spot near Stony Hill  might feel arduous at first. But then, almost before you realize it, you feel the hot grimy bustle of the city fall away, revel in the greenery and splashes of colour, and get animated by the robustly cool climes - and you realize..... this is worth the drive from Kingston (or even from other parts of the island).

The Sunday brunch is epic in all the best senses of that now overused term.  A footpath leads down through curtains of vines and flowers to a true oasis by a trickling stream. Whether there for church service, corporate retreat or the inevitable wedding (this if nothing else, is a place for promises) and help yourself to a buffet of mackerel rundown, curry goat, ackee and saltfish, stew fish, jerk chicken and other Jamaican favorites. Desserts include sweet bricks of potato pudding and rum cake.

Great ambiance surrounds you, and you happily surrender. Head down to the river and just enjoy the babbling water, running between your my toes.

And even if no special occasion, or you want to pick up the most captivating flora, Stephen Jones Landscaping and Garden Centre (proprietor Jones has taken full yet responsible advantage of the area's splendiferous flowerings) has over 30 years of experience in plant care and landscaping. The Garden Centre hosts a wide selection of plant types to choose from, and specialises in Plant Sales and Rental, Floral Arrangements, Special Decorations - anything that will make that calendar or one-off event pop into the stratosphere, or just add  beauty to the natural surroundings.

The Land Care division has unmatched expertise and experience in Landscaping and Water Features (including Ponds, Fountains, etc.), and for those tough lawn/garden care issues, or for any needed advice, there is an In-House Florist.

To begin your "brunch n' blooms" experience, turn right on Aerie Castle Rd from Stony Hill Sq, then left onto River Rd. A steep dirt road leads down from River Rd to the car park.
