Jamaica’s Ambassador
to the United States,
Her Excellency Audrey Marks (left) paid a visit to Minister of Culture, Gender,
Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia Grange on Friday, primarily to
update the Minister on her progress at the six-month mark of her tenure.
During the working meeting, the two discussed both
Legacy Projects and special initiatives pertaining to the upcoming Jamaica 55
Independence Celebrations. Topping the Agenda were the restoration of downtown
cultural landmark, the Ward
Theatre and the re-development
of the Trelawny Stadium. Minister Grange also raised the possibility of a
touring Exhibition of Jamaican art.
Minister Grange, who in December 2016 was elected
Vice-Chair of the Inter-American Committee on Culture (during the InterAmerican
Culture Ministers Meeting in Paraguay), said that both herself and Ambassador
Marks “are equally committed to advancing the monetization of Jamaica’s
cultural and creative assets as part of the broader growth agenda to improve
the quality of life for Jamaicans.
At the end of the meeting, Grange presented Ambassador
Marks with a copy of the book, Jamaica: Heritage in Pictures by the
Jamaica National Heritage Trust
