Welcome to the 2018 Scotiabank Calendar Photography Competition: “My Jamaica”

 

Each year, Scotiabank produces a 14-page wall calendar to distribute to 70,000 of our customers.

 

Photographers are invited to use this platform to share their vision of “My Jamaica”. We want to see Jamaica through your eyes. What makes you feel patriotic, proud and happy to be a Jamaican? What about our culture do you love? What do you celebrate as a Jamaican? 

 

How would you capture Jamaica at its best in any of the following categories?

1. Nature - pictures of flora, fauna, or landscapes.
2. Daily Life - documenting either the ordinary or extraordinary elements in everyday life that are not normally considered news.
3. People - portraying individuals or groups of people, including sports - that capture individuals or team sports.

 

The photographic entries of the winners of the competition will be featured in our 2018 wall calendar along with their photograph and a short bio.

 

Rules:

 

1. Photographers must be Jamaican nationals.
2. Photos must be submitted between September 1 and September 30, 2018
3. All photographs must be submitted as high res 300 dpi files in jpeg file format to: scotiamyjamaica@gmail.com
4. Each Entrant warrants that he or she has obtained all necessary releases from models and other subjects featured in the works of art and any additional releases required with respect to names, trademarks, designs or works of art depicted in the submitted work of art and that the creation, display or distribution of the work of art will not violate any law. The Entrant will be required to produce these releases to Scotiabank as a condition of final selection.
5. Each Entrant warrants that he or she alone created the submitted work of art or if there are collaborators, these collaborators are named and agree to these Terms and Conditions  
6. Entries must be original works of art and not copies, derivatives or based in anyway on other copyrighted or published works of art. 
7. Each submission must include name of creator and title of work. 
8. Each entry must include a brief description of the image. 
9. Entries will be judged based on creativity, originality and in accordance with the theme.
10. Judging will be conducted by nationally recognized, professional photographers and/or other competent individuals in the profession.  Selection and award are in the sole discretion of these Judges based on composition, creativity, originality and demonstration of the theme.
11. Winners will receive:          
    
    1st Place: Front Cover Photo plus $250,000,
    2nd Place: Back Cover plus $125,000;
    3rd Place: 1st Page Photo plus $100,000
    11 other Winners will be Specially Mentioned and receive $50,000 each.
     
12. Winners will be notified via email.
13. You will receive an email confirming your entry.
14. Deadline for entry is Midnight, September 30, 2017.
15. Submissions of an entry to this competition forms your express consent and acceptance of all stated terms and conditions.

Terms of Use:

 

1. If selected, the Entrant agrees that in consideration of the publication and mention of the Entrant’s name as the photographer of the works, the right title and interest in the photographs will be transferred and assigned to Scotiabank which shall include all of the exclusive rights granted to the owner of a copyright under Jamaican Copyright Laws, copyright laws of any or all countries and jurisdiction throughout the world, and all international conventions and treaties relative to copyright protection. There will be no other consideration or payment to the Entrant.
2. The consideration for the selection and publication of the Entrant’s name
3. By entering the contest, you accept the terms of use for inclusion in the Scotiabank Calendar and for promotional purposes online and in print media.

1. Photographs will be published and shared on our Facebook page for voting purposes and winning entries will be published in the 2018 Scotiabank Calendar which will be distributed to 70,000 customers.
2. Entrants agree to the rules, terms and conditions set forth by the Scotiabank Photography Competition “My Jamaica” and agree to give permission to Scotiabank to use their photographic submission, their image and likeness in social media and in their 2018 calendar for marketing and promotional purposes.
