With the gurgling
of
the rain-swelled
Aqueduct
a soundtrack
and mosaics
ancient
and modern
a stage
the tableau of 10,000
dreams
and
aspirations
reaching up like mist
to cloud-shrouded
Blue peaks
a lone
writer surveys
the contrast
defiantly verdant
pastureland pushing
up against
concrete Faculty facades
and
a near skeletal horse
and remnant mottled
sheep
munching
ineffectually
where the scars on a
giant
concrete
water bowl
bear witness
to a City's
ever-growing
thirst
Parrots squawk their way
to the relative safety
of the poui treees
and utility wires
Old tractor tyres
No longer rolling
high
find life after
re-tirement
means hosting
ever-spreading grasses and former potted
plants
The lone
writer
ponders the time when The land
will be in the hands
of the horde of aspiring dancers their
pink Nikes
and cut-off denims
announcing them even before their
rowdy manner and brusque
movement
and the students
as dull-witted as their
uniforms
are vivid
Inheritors
of
an already troubled
national
legacy
what
will
be left?
