Live Music: John Legend Guitarist Timothy Bloom for the Alibi this week

The popular live showcase "Jazz and Cocktails" at Kingston lounge The Alibi again acquires an international flavour with the appearance of Timothy Bloom, Grammy-winning  singer, songwriter and guitarist in the band of R n' B hitmaker John Legend.


Bloom will perform at the club this Wednesday (Jan 17) along with Alibi house band Pon Fyah, led by Ozoune. lso performing on the bill is singer songwriter and violinist Orisha Sound. Showtime is 8:00pm.

Born into a family of preachers in North Carolina, Bloom was influenced to a secular music career aftrer hearing Bob Dylan's "Lay, Lady Lay" on a car radio. Bloom began his career as a songwriter and producer, writing and producing Grammy Award-winning songs for both Ne-Yo(“Say it” on Because of you)[1] and Chris Brown (“All Back” on F.A.M.E)[2] as well as writing for Smokey Robinson (“My World”, “Fallin in Love”). He was signed to Interscope via a joint deal with Polow Da Don and Timbaland.[3] In 2010, Timothy released an EP on Interscope Records entitled “The Budding Rose” which contained the video for the single “Til the End of Time.” The videos for both "'Til the End on Time" and "Possibilities" have over 4 million views on YouTube.

In 2014, Bloom released an independent self-titled album, with the debut single “Stand in the Way (of MY LOVE),” which was #13 on the iTunes R&B charts release week and in the Billboard top 100 R&B albums. He has been selected to perform on some very prestigious events, including premier entertainment festival SXSW (South by SouthWest) and was a featured artist on the Amazon Digital showcase at that festival. In June 2015, he was chosen from over 500 musician applications worldwide to be one of the 14 Pepsi/Deezer Midem Accelerator Artists.  He has also performed at Midem in Cannes, France, and on the Grammy Showcase series.

The North Carolina raised singer, songwriter and producer who plays piano, guitar, bass and drum now makes Los Angeles his home.

"Jazz and Cocktails" at the Alibi is a weekly live music showcase presented by Ozoune and Pon Fyah  with musical guests spanning a wide variety of genres and styles.
