After many fans thought it would only be in their hip-hop dreams, Eric B. and Rakim are reuniting for an official tour. The dynamic rap duo will be hitting the road together for the first time in 25 years starting in April, having announced their upcoming tour earlier today (March 6).
The 17-date tour is slated to start on April 8 in Boston, Mass. before hitting tons of major cities in the U.S. before wrapping up on May 3 in San Francisco, Calif. Posting the announcement to Twitter in a series of now-deleted tweets, Eric B. and Rakim confirmed their forthcoming tour, despite confusion over previous eyebrow-raising tweetsstemming from the account.
"We #TakingBackTwitter and that’s just the start. When we tweet it’s real news,” they wrote on the account. "But rather then 140 characters that lands on every hip hop magazine and website in the world, we gonna SHOW you what we mean. It’s just the beginning. More updates to follow [the leader]."
Back in October 2016, the rapper-producer group announced that they would be going back on tour, but only reunited for their Paid in Full album anniversary shows last year.
If you recall, Eric B. and Rakim have a long history together as a lyrical and producer collective before monetary and label issues caused a split between them in the 90s. While they never patched things up to make another full project together, the two were able to work out their differences enough to hit the stage last year for the first time since their feud.
