Poetry: NAME-BRAND ARCADE

Fanning out
for blocks and blocks
in either direction from the burnt-out
clock
a tsunami of over-priced
goods
bought at nearly
a steal
but we're told its a deal
half-naked girls with material ambitions
laid bare
frantic panhandlers seeking
"a fare"
male and female
deceivers in
fading Abercrombie shirts and
 garish pink
Nikes
doing it for the likes and
the love of
money
on stage the
laughs only come broad and
fast
cause so few
will  admit
this crazy dance can't last - pull up Selector! -
my bombarded senses still
detect
a storm ahead
Pay attention I don't
want
to see you
be misled
