Brands: With Mod Selection, Drake Ups His Liquor Game Again

Celebrity-backed booze seems to be all the rage lately, and Canadian rapper/heartthrob Drake is the latest to join the fray.
Drake and Brent Hocking, the founder of DeLeon Tequila, have partnered up on a new line of champagne. This isn’t the first time the pair have worked together: back in 2016 they launched Virginia Black Whiskey.
The new champagne line takes its name from a maison that dates back to 1892—Mod Selection. Mod Selection comes from the Vallee de la Marne region of France, but until now has never been available to the general public.
The press release regarding the launch explains, “Mod Selection is the purest expression of balance and terroir produced in Champagne today. The house practices minimal intervention throughout the harvest, press, and production, ensuring the purest display of balance and terroir in every cuvee.
“Only grapes demonstrating optimal levels of sugar, acidity, and maturity are selected for the press.”
That attention to detail doesn’t go unnoticed. Drake stated, “The product is great, the presentation is great, and hopefully the representation is great as well. We’ll enjoy this run. It should be a long one and a strong one. I think the full package is there.”
Available in both Reserve and Rose expressions, Mod Selection retails for USD$300 and $400 respectively per 750ml bottle.
