Music: Sterling Awards Set for July 11

The organizers, yesterday, officially kickstarted the Sterling Awards for 2021, seeking to recognize and reward even more gospel talents and contributors this year, with the introduction of several new categories to the 2021 edition.

The media launch was held in Kingston, where Founder, Basillia Barnaby-Cuff announced that the 2021 ceremony will be held on July 11, 2021, at 5:05 p.m. via live broadcast on Television Jamaica (TVJ). Among the new categories being introduced this year, is the New Talent Showcase which has been generating steady traction in the digital space already. The organizers rolled out the series online, giving aspiring gospel artistes an opportunity to showcase their talents. From the drove of video submissions, the Sterling Committee chose the top 10 finalists, three of whom battled their way to earn a spot as a top-three finalist. The virtual series came to a close on Tuesday, June 23, 2021, with the announcement hailing Gavin McDonald as the first New Talent Showcase winner.
