Elon Musk’s hosting gig on “SNL” over the weekend sent dogecoin tumbling, created free PR for Tesla and gave rival electric-car makers an opening in the ad breaks.
Tesla, tried to tap the buzz around the “SNL” job by showing off its coming Cybertruck pickup truck on the streets of New York City.
But other automakers also got in on the action, to the benefit of “SNL”: The commercial breaks included ads for the Audi E-tron, the Ford Mustang Mach-E, the Volkswagen ID 4, and the Air from Lucid Motors, a company founded by the former head engineer of the Tesla Model S.
