YOHAN BLAKE ON BOARD WITH FOOD FOR THE POOR
Famed sprinter Yohan Blake, who has previously participated in outreach activities with the charity, is officially on board as an Ambassador for Food for the Poor.
Speaking during a recent courtesy call to mark the occasion, Blake, who in the past has donated homes in conjunction with the charity, said he was proud and grateful to be associated with Food for the Poor. "I support Food for the Poor with all my heart, because I want more than anything else for people to enjoy a better quality life and live with dignity."
Food For The Poor Development and Marketing Manager Marsha Burrell-Rose thanked Blake for maintaining his partnership with the organization, both through donations and direct participation in FFP events.
"We are so excited to have Yohan with us as a Brand Ambassador, and we are very grateful for his involvement with us over the years. We look forward to continuing to meet the needs of our people."
Blake participated in the charity’s 5K event in Orlando, Florida in 2012, as well as the inaugural 5K Run/Walk in 2015 where he donated funds to provide a house for Sophia Afflick, a hyperthyroidism patient who used to live in a chicken coop with two of her five children. This act of goodwill was repeated in 2016 when Blake donated another house to a needy family under the charity’s 5K initiative.
Blake started the YB Afraid Foundation in 2011 with a mandate to support organizations and develop programmes that address the educational, physical and mental health and social needs of underprivileged youth, enabling them to develop into outstanding citizens and role models in society.
In March of this year, the charity also welcomed Leon Bailey, Jamaican international footballer, as a Brand Ambassador.
