Music Tech: RIP Ipod [Nano and Shuffle]

Apple yesterday announced it was discontinuing its iconic Ipod Shuffle and Nano music players ,leaving the Ipod touch as the only device bearing the game-changing name......for now.

The line, which greeted the new Millennium back in 2001, have essentially been casualties of the ongoing development of the smartphone segment, with music, and other apps migrating to phones rather than stand-alone devices.

This writer vividly recalls the "Shocking" bright monochrome ads, with the darkly silhouetted characters dancing and otherwise enjoying their music via the Ipod. Reoprts are that late Apple boss Steve Jobs was initially not too enthused with the idea, but the artists and copywriter stuck to their guns, and in the end, faced with their success, Jobs reportedly claimed the sketches were his idea.
