Poetry: INCREDIBLE

Looking back
on
desires long
restrained
Resting under propriety's
reign
Till I was set adrift
pondering the forked paths
of life
and there you
were half-hidden
by garish Christmas lights
a beacon I nearly
passed
but for the sweet surety of
your
smile
I tarried
and am now being
renewed

II
Amid the final mad dash
of " buy buy buy"
banality
Ensconced
in an equally
incongruent
Pizza shop
You lean forward
and co-axially the
Universe
shifts and
compresses till your face your eyes the cherry
red richness
of your lips
are all the cosmos I can
see
Neuron fireworks preceding
and exceeding
any New Year's Eve
spectacular
molecular lust caring and euphoria
mingle and rise like
magma
capped only by the
presence
of passers-by
and
the unwelcome
Press
of
deadlines
