Music: Marley, Bird, "Mahal" and More, the RIFFs This Week

‘THE RIFF’ 1/12: ‘ROCK TO THE ROCK’ Bob Marley & The Wailers. The Danny Sims Years.

Voted the top producer for 2016, the Musical Ambassador, sets his sights on 2018, with two new releases: “Blueprint” by singer/author JO JO MAC; and Vernon Maytone’ “Refreshed”.

Ken Boothe remakes “When I Fall In Love’. Keith and Tex, the vocal duo, release new music. “One Scotch One Bourbon One Beer” a classic by John Lee Hooker.
 Taj Mahal’ daughter Deva Mahal, releases her debut album. The rise of a different style of songwriting, exemplified by Jacob Hemphill of the group SOJA.


‘THE SUNDAY RIFF’ 1/14 : Duke Ellington  and Johnny Hodges plays the blues one-on-one. Personalized songwriting and singing by Jose’ James and Gregory Porter. Singing about Charlie Parker’ music—Kurt Elling and Kandace Springs.
