Movies: Black Panther Cruises Past "Titanic" Into US #3 Spot All Time

-IGN

Black Panther is on pace to surpass the domestic box office total of James Cameron's Titanic this weekend and become the third highest-grossing film of all time in North America.

As reported by Deadline, the domestic total for Ryan Coogler's MCU movie reached $659.3 million by the end of Friday, putting it only slightly behind Titanic's $659.5 million haul, not accounting for inflation.

As such, the film should, by day's end, eclipse Cameron's 1997 film, becoming come the third highest-grossing film ever at the domestic box office. Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Avatar hold the number one and two spots with respective hauls of $936.7 million and $760.5 million.

Worldwide, Black Panther has earned a whopping $1.29 billion and currently stands as the tenth highest grossing film at the global box office. The film is just ahead of Frozen's $1.28 billion total and right behind Star Wars: The Last Jedi's $1.33 billion worldwide haul
