Jewish American reggae vocalist Matisyahu has teamed with dancehall artiste Mavado for his new single Coming from Afar . The song was released late last week.
In an interview with Billboard Magazine, Matisyahu spoke about working with Mavado.
“Mavado is the truth. Getting the chance to work with a real artiste in an industry filled with lots of generic singers was a gift.”
The reggae-influenced track is said to be from Matisyahu's forthcoming EP.
Matisyahu emerged on the scene in 2006 with the release of the single King Without a Crown which peaked at number 28 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song was certified gold for sales of over 500,000 copies in the United States.
Four years later, the song One Day peaked at number 85 on the Hot 100 chart and it was also certified gold.
Matisyashu has to date charted 11 titles on the Billboard Reggae Album chart, seven of which have reached number one.
