a young Jamaican man pulls up
an envelope bearing the name of the
Philippine capital and with paper of
that provenance
the envelope comes out of
a rubber bucket
emblazoned
with "United States Postal Service"
on one side
the bucket was made in
India
with rubber from
Malaysia
what surprises is
not the cosmopolitan nature
of all this
despite the Donald's attempts to
stem the global tide
We here
have always been
entrepot
many come some put down
roots some venture off
to new vistas others
return
to whence they came
as do we
No
it is the
speed
with which all these
disparate threads
have been knit
how the diverse
streams
coalesce in
one
seemingly banal
exercise
