Poetry: WALL STATE [The Great Showdown]

And at this particular point in
our show
after the clowns have
retreated
to the wings
the Builder Buffoon
the pretend
tycoon
Mr art of the Deal
darted like the
eel
he always was
to the centre of the stage
the junior
slumlord
the blue-suited
gremlin
pillaging the public purse
to pay fealty
to the Kremlin
the never-soldier whose
backbone
ended up in his
feet

the calamitous crook
whose business empire
was built on
deceit
and degradation
given the reins of the
nation
by spineless
lawmakers
themselves greedy
for power
bent on extracting the country's
best
for only their
benefit
lining their pockets
heedless
of the deficit
to be borne on
the backs
of the
blacks
history repeating itself
The Great Showdown
only this time
long gone
are the
clowns
