Poetry: MONSTERS AND ROBOTS

In Indonesia
A Croc grabbed a
Man by his
midsection but didn’t
Eat him
Perhaps he was merely
an advocate for
Non-human interventions
in its
Riverain home
The man had been fixing
a pipe
In an area known
for ravenous
Beasts
In a country seeking
to become known as
Much for technology and
Ideas as
for traditional rituals and
Religious adherence
Half a world away robot
Cars are
striking pedestrians and colliding
with poles
Perhaps the wayward
Robots should be redeployed and
Repurposed in Indonesia and
the somewhat benign yet
sure-gripped
Crocs
be imported to shuttle our
Less desirable more
Self-important residents of
the Legislature and the upper
Classes
To new
and even murkier
Depths
