Come tonight, Saturday April 14th
2018, this year’s renewal of the Shortwood Teachers College’s Evening of
Excellence, dubbed Jammin’ on the Lawns . The diversified evening of
entertainment will be headlined by Freddie Mcgregor, Etana (at right) and international award winning dance theatre
company Ashe Ensemble.
Ashe’s appearance is part of their ‘25 Giveback’ events in commemoration
of their 25th anniversary.
The Ensemble is set to storm the stage
with their characteristic energetic and
engaging delivery of song dance and drumming.
Conroy Wilson, Executive Director of Ashe explained their reason for
choosing this event of one of their 25 giveback events: “We had many requests, but
we chose this event because education is very close to our hearts. We are a
company of excellence and this is what the evening is about. We also admire the college’s push to ensure
comfortable accommodations for their residents”.
From Ashe, the baton will be passed on
to Etana, The Strong One, who, fresh from her US tour, will maintain the vibe
and positive energy as she delivers a captivating session, featuring songs from
her new album Reggae Forever and longtime favourites.
The new album, the first project
undertaken by herself since parting company with VP records features the
thematic “Spread Love”, “Good Enough”, You’re The One” and many more. The album was released March 8.
“When Push Come To Shove”, it will be
Freddie who will anchor the evening and take the crowd home in style,
delivering hits like “Don’t Wanna Be Lonely”, “Big Ship” and “I Was Born A
Winner” punctuated by many more from his amazing repertoire.
The event will be under the patronage
of Lady Allen, and is presented by the
Consultancy Inc CA, XKlusiv Media Group
TVJ, Kool 97 FM, Highqual Industry Ltd
and Olive International, distributors of Clavileno, Las Tablas and Castillo de
Daimiel brands of Spanish wines.
